PLEASE SHARE — DO NOT LET SGT KEVIN LEE LLOYD DIE IN THE DARK

We are begging the public, the Marine Corps, and those with the power to help:

Do not let Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd be forgotten.

Help get our family the in-person support we urgently need.

Not one more form. Not one more phone call.

We need boots on the ground. Now.

MEDICAL UPDATE

Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd is battling Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to his brain.

He has completed 3 of 6 rounds of brain radiation at MD Anderson and is holding on with hope to begin inpatient chemotherapy if his condition stabilizes.

Just days ago, Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd underwent a spinal tap to evaluate for leptomeningeal disease (LMD) — cancer in the lining of the brain and spinal cord.

This was a devastating miss by the VA. His clinical signs and neurological deterioration were consistent with LMD, yet no one tested for it.

Instead, their priority was pushing to place him in a nursing home — to die in the dark, without treatment.

This oversight came from the same VA physician who:

 • Blocked Kevin’s transfer to MD Anderson

 • Dismissed his eligibility for care

 • Failed to act on a PET scan showing spinal involvement

 • Later became aggressive with us after I filed official complaints with the Inspector General and VA Hotline

We are now hoping to receive permission for Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd to receive a specialized line of chemotherapy recommended by his renowned gastrointestinal medical oncologist while remaining inpatient.

Though typically given outpatient, Kevin’s condition cannot be safely managed outside the hospital.

He must stay on a continuous pain pump to preserve comfort and dignity.

He is receiving exceptional care in his current unit, where the staffing ratio finally allows him the focused, respectful treatment he deserves as a Marine and an American hero.

SYSTEMIC FAILURE AT THE VA

The delay in Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd’s care has been catastrophic.

The same Chief of Radiation Oncology who blocked his transfer to MD Anderson on June 27 — deciding he “didn’t deserve” the treatment his neurosurgeon recommended — also ignored the PET scan findings and delayed releasing his records.

After I filed complaints, that doctor told me he was angry that I reported him and became aggressive with both Kevin and me.

Because of this failure, Kevin’s radiation was delayed four critical days — time we will never get back.

AND STILL — HE FIGHTS

Thanks to the incredible palliative pharmacy team at MD Anderson, Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd is finally on a continuous pain pump, and for the first time in weeks, he is not in agony.

We are deeply thankful MD Anderson has kept him inpatient between radiation and medical oncology, so he is not left to suffer at home between treatments.

Thank you for treating this American hero with the compassion and dignity he deserved all along.

BUT WE ARE FIGHTING ALONE — AND THAT MUST CHANGE

What we need now is a CACO officer — just as we would have if Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd had been shot in combat.

Instead, I’m:

 • Googling how to ensure he’s buried at Houston National Cemetery

 • Digging through his military records trying to access support

 • Being turned away by military foundations because we’ve been told we “won’t be a Gold Star family” when Kevin dies

Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd is blind, and swelling in his brain makes it hard to speak.

Stop calling his phone. Stop saying it will take two years to fix his records.

Stop saying “we wish we could help” while doing nothing.

THE MARINE CORPS MUST MOBILIZE. NOW.

 • His retirement status is still not corrected

 • No one has been sent in person to help with his final affairs

 • We are drowning in forms, silence, and grief

Every call is a minute away from his bedside and our children.

Stop asking a blind man with brain swelling to fill out forms.

When Sgt Kevin Lee Lloyd dies — and I pray every minute that he doesn’t — it will be from combat-related injuries.

Burn pits are this generation’s Agent Orange. He was poisoned in service to this country.

This is 100% combat-related. And we deserve support before it’s too late.
